Zen Float Tent | A Modern Isolation Tank For The Home

$1850

For those of you who haven’t ever heard of an isolation tank (also referred to as floatation tank or sensory deprivation chamber), this is a device that was designed and invented by a medical practitioner and neurophysiologist called John C. Lily in 1954. His original idea was to study the effects of sensory deprivation; in other words, what would happen if you had to place your brain in a tank and what would the resulting experience be without the distraction of the body.

Obviously, these experiences gained much attention from the scientific community and even notable figures such as renowned physicist Richard Feynman and Fear Factor USA presenter, comedian and martial artist Joe Rogan experimented with the tank. Rogan also created a Youtube video where he recounts his experience with a sensory deprivation chamber.

Isolation tanks have many health benefits.

The isolation tank has been shown to have a wide variety of benefits that include, but are not limited to, stress reduction, pain alleviation, anxiety relief, assistance in fighting addiction and depression, sports performance enhancement, mood elevation, access to deep meditative states and, possibly, life changing introspective spiritual experiences.

So, how does it work? Firstly, the tank is built to be both light-proof and sound-proof, it is then filled with water that has 800 pounds of Epsom salt added to it so that you float at or near the surface; the water is also heated to your body temperature to decrease any sensation that your body might experience.

Where does the Zen Float Tent come in to all of this?

The creators of the Zen Float Tent wanted to bring an easy and affordable solution to whomever wants to float (typical float tanks can cost between $10,000 – $30,000). The tent is easy to set up – requiring only 15 minutes – and simple to use. Its creators utilized a dual-layer waterproof and lightproof canvas that has been welded so that there is no chance of seam leaking, and opted to use heavy-duty stainless steel for the frame that won’t corrode from the salt and has quick connection adapters for simple assembly.

You can regulate teh temperature inside the tent and it’s suitable both for indoors and outdoors.

They also tested different designs but settled on the pyramid design so that any condensation would roll down the sides and not drip on you which would interrupt your flow. As for the heating, they utilized a simple radiant heating system that ensures that the water will always be kept at the perfect temperature for your body.

Because this unit will be kept inside your home, Zen Float Tent’s creators used an all-white finish so that it will look great even if there was salt residue on it. They also kept in mind that the tent needs to be small enough to fit in any room but also large enough to float in comfortably so they designed it to be 8-foot long by 4-foot wide. This unit is far more affordable than the typical isolation tank and the prices start at only $1,850.
