Duffy London is probably one of the most innovative and imaginative furniture makers we have featured so far. Remember their Flying Carpet Coffee Table and Swing Table? Now they have come up with Tree Shadow Chair, a new version of their iconic Shadow Chair. With Tree Shadow Chair you cannot help but wonder – is it a chair, or is it a tree?
At first look, Tree Shadow Chair appears to have gravity defying capabilities since it seems it is standing on two legs alone, but at a closer inspection you can see that the shadow, which continues stretching out behind the chair to resemble a tree, is actually what supports it. The ‘tree shadow’ is made from pure wool felt and it also doubles as a cozy rug.
The chair is available in several finishes including Oak, solid Walnut and steel. The chair’s dimensions are 85cm (H) x 45cm (W) x 60cm (D), while the tree shadow / the rug’s dimensions are 0.5cm (H) x 200cm (W) x 300cm (L).
Not only is Tree Shadow Chair a great conversation starter, but this piece of furniture is also as beautiful as it is quirky. Another feature that should not be omitted is that the Walnut veneer, used in making Tree Shadow Chair, comes from forests managed by the Forest Stewardship Council and other controlled sources.
