The Best Games for Boomers

A lot of people all over the world enjoy playing fun board and trivia games and with so many people staying home a lot more these days, the popularity of these types of games is making a comeback. However, even with so many options currently available, there are quite a few that are geared specifically toward younger generations.

Fortunately, there are also some great options available these days for the game-loving “Boomers” among us. Whether you are one yourself or you have one on your holiday shopping list, any of the games below are sure to be a hit.

It’s Right There in The Name!

With thousands of trivia questions from the ‘50s, ‘60s, & ‘70s covering music, film, TV, general education, protest movements, classic commercials, and so much more, ‘Boom Again’ will give Boomers hours and hours of enjoyment.

Loaded with questions from some of Boomers’ fondest memories, there’ll be lots of laughs and players reminiscing about their “good ole days” as they team up to see who will be crowned trivia champ. Play with authentic game tokens directly from those memorable decades such as skate keys, roach clips, and whatever those little yellow plastic pieces are called that we had to use to play our 45 RPM records.

And if you don’t know what a 45 RPM record is, this probably isn’t the trivia game for you. And if you are looking for a never-get-boring game for your loved ones, this is perfectly one of the best gifts for grandmas.

A Tried & True Winner

One thing a good number of Boomers have a lot on hand these days is something many of us, unfortunately, have an excess of as well — Time! Well, taking “too much time” has been the number 1 excuse for not playing this next game and now that excuse is pretty much moot.

We’re talking about Monopoly of course and while Boomers have played it since childhood, these days there are some pretty cool versions available. While you can find treasures like the Star Wars The Complete Saga Edition and even a “Cheater’s Edition” directly from Hasbro, you can also get special editions throughout the year at various retail stores and specialty shops and you can even find folks out there that will create a custom personalized board to your specifications.

The Gift of Strategy Games

Games like Risk can be the ultimate in strategy games and are great for those with extra time, but there’s a couple of these games that are just as tricky but arguably a lot more fun.

Chess has been around for centuries and you can pick up an affordable set at most retail stores, or you can kick things up a notch. With sets available on a wide range of themes such as medieval knights in shining armor, wizards, and dragons, Marvel/DC heroes and villains, the Civil War, and so much more, there’s a set out there with your name all over it.

With layers upon layers of strategy involved, Hive is the perfect game for Boomers who enjoy strategic games like Chess. This bug-themed board game is easy to learn but very difficult to master as you use wit and skills to try to completely surround your opponent’s queen by connecting your tiles around her before your opponent surrounds your queen.

Boomers all over the country are enjoying the games above and if you’re looking for a little nostalgia or something new to do, you won’t regret adding these to your game collection.
