Staycation ideas for university students
Budgeting is a part of the university experience, and you might find yourself saying goodbye to luxuries you used to indulge in. However, a getaway with your friends doesn’t have to be one of them. While travelling to a different country can be costly, it might be time to look closer to home for a staycation that’s filled with all the fun and glamour a holiday abroad has.
There are smart ways to save, including the well-known 1p challenge which could see you saving £667.95 by the end of the year. If you’re lucky, you’ll have the bank of mum and dad to help you out or there are small loans for students with poor credit that can tide you over before your next student loan instalment. As with all loans, be sure to do your research beforehand and make sure you can pay it back.
So, what staycation destinations does the UK offer? We’ve highlighted some of our favourites below.
Lake District, Cumbria
If you’re looking for picturesque and tranquil, a staycation at the Lake District is exactly what you need after a busy year studying. There are mountains and lakes to explore, with plenty to do for the average adventurer. Go hiking, climbing, and sight seeing and enjoy the beauty the Lakes have to offer. There are plenty of cabins to stay in with your friends during your travels.
London
Take a trip to the capital and enjoy all the things London has to offer. With streets lined with shops and plenty of tourist destinations to get stuck into, you’ll never be short of plans. There’s also a busy nightlife here in London so get your dancing shoes on and dance the night away with your friends.
Brighton
If you’re looking for a beach staycation, then Brighton is the place to go. A popular student hotspot with plenty of charm, Brighton is filled with quirky independent shops and cafes and it’s also famous for their fish & chips! Sit back and relax at the beach with an ice cream in hand.
Norfolk
There’s wildlife, stunning sceneries, and plenty of history in Norfolk. There’s something here for the average explorer to enjoy, from walking to cycling, or going on boat rides. You’ll also see the Queen’s private house in Sandringham.
With plenty to offer, you don’t have to jump on a plane to find the perfect getaway. The UK has locations suitable for everyone and it isn’t as costly as going abroad. All you have to do is look closer to home and find yourself a beach staycation, a getaway filled with adventure, or a relaxing break filled with history.
