If you cannot imagine your life without a weekly dose of jogging around a park, then perhaps, in the near future, you will not be able to imagine jogging without Sony SmartEyeglass Attach. The latest creation by Sony, it was presented during the CES 2015, the greatest tech show on earth. Unlike its lengthy name, Sony SmartEyeglass Attach is a small device that makes any pair of spectacles smart.
Yes, you’ve read it well, you can attach it to any pair of specs, be those sunglasses or prescription glasses, and by doing so, remain faithful to your own style. The white rectangular module contains the processor, sensors, camera, and a thin plastic arm holding a 640 x 400 OLED display that discreetly hovers just above your right eye. Since the screen is only 0.5 cm high, it is indeed unobtrusive and will not distract you when you do not need it.
It is lightweight as well, and the lucky runners now do not have to stop and search through their pockets for their phones in order to check out their current location, for it’s right before them. The Attach could also be used to provide hole information while golfing, or it can be clipped to goggles while snowboarding or skiing. In addition, it should be mentioned that it is waterproof, so you do not have to worry about the unavoidable sweating part of such activities.
The Sony SmartEyeglass attach is still in prototype stage and its mass production is due to start in 2015, therefore, Sony doesn’t presently know how much SmartEyeglass Attach will cost, nor which services or brands will be tied into the device when it is launched. However, we can be sure about one thing – this amazing little device will be used in the future to improve not only sporting experience, but also other domains of life in the ways we can’t even imagine now.
