Montana is the quintessential destination for ranching. This is an untamed, wild and utterly beautiful part of America, and home to national parks, bison, geysers, and Seven great Indian Nations. Montana is also home to The Ranch at Rock Creek, an all-inclusive resort which prides itself in “offering a slice of raw western adventure”.
The Ranch at Rock Creek spans incredible 6,600 acres, and it lies between the John Long Mountains, and the Deer Lodge National Forest. The landscape here is stunning, peaceful and diverse – there are meadows, streams, mountains and lakes everywhere you look. The Ranch is an old property, dating back to the late 1800s when it was a mining claim. Subsequently, it was transformed into a working cattle ranch, while its current proprietor Jim Manly bought in 2007 after a long and hard search for an ideal ranch.
The accommodation here are cottages and log homes, each bearing a colourful name – Eagle’s Perch, Bluebird, Sara Jane’s Cottage, Ponderosa, Moose House, Wrangler, Trapper Cabin, Bear House, The Loft, and Cattail Cabin. They are all spacious, with stunning views, overlooking the valley or hillsides, with upscale amenities like hot tubs, swimming pools, private sundecks, cedar saunas, king or queen-size beds, and wood / gas fireplaces.
There is also nine-room Granite Lodge, luxurious, authentic guest house with an outdoor pool, Jacuzzi and the Granite Spa. The Lodge also has the Dining Room where Chef Drage will prepare you the most sumptuous Montana-bred beef and lamb, and variety of signature dishes using locally, organically grown food. If you crave a juicy rack of ribs or a good old stake, pop over to the Blue Canteen, named after its blue-coloured decorations – from a blue stove to blue silverware.
Adventure and good fun is guaranteed at the Ranch at Rock Creek. You are spoiled for choice when it comes to outdoor activities. Take your pick between horseback riding, clay shooting, fly fishing, mountain biking, hiking, wildlife viewing, archery, cross-country and downhill skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing or sleigh rides. watch video below
