Polaris has come up with an idea how to fully utilize their ATVs. Their latest product called the Polaris Sportsman WV850 H.O. and it features a kind of tire that will never go flat on you due to the fact that they are non-pneumatic.
Non-pneumatic means that they have no air. These tires are standard equipment for the Polaris Sportsman WV850 H.O. Now, airless tires aren’t new, but they still haven’t been used extensively. An ATV is a perfect testing device for these tires due to the fact that these vehicles are known to take loads of abuse. This particular one is constructed according to the military spec MV850, so it is suitable for all kinds of terrains. Non-pneumatic tires fit this picture perfectly. They are capable of enduring the abuse that no other tire could. Rugged terrains and sharp rocks present no problem; damage caused by a shot from a .50 caliber rifle will not cause it to stop – it will continue to run for about 350 miles after this; and it will be able to run for another 1000 miles after running over a railroad spike.
Even without the tires, this ATV is a pretty good example of these amazing vehicles. It has a fully automatic single-speed transmission combined with a 77hp engine, heavy duty shocks and increased cooling capacity. Its on-top capacity is 600 pounds and it can tow up to 1,500 pounds with the option of doubling this towing capacity using a winch. With a fuel tank of 11.75 gallons, its autonomy is also great. And, to be honest, it looks so damn good. [via] watch video below
