Today we’re talking about PanLights, a series of lamps and sculptures dedicated to nature and its fairy beings. They are a creative product of a Slovenian artist Javor Skerlj Vogelnik who found his main inspiration by spending time in the forests, mountains, and lakes. The main philosophy behind PanLights is to connect with the basic elements and inspirations from nature which provide well being and empowerment for human beings
The artist got interested in stories and legends of fairy creatures while studying Geomancy. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s the art of the multidimensional map of the Earth. After spending four years learning from Marko Pogačnik, earth healer and Unesco artist for peace 2016, the artist gained a lot of knowledge about nature and its hidden managers.
All items in his collection are made from driftwood, a wood that spent time in waters and was washed to the shores of lakes, seas, and rivers. What’s interesting is that all sculptures are handmade and associated with natural structures or a specific fairy being. Each has a LED bulb incorporated into the structure and will bring a unique, rustic charm to your home. You can see some great examples below, as well as read the descriptions for each.
Lamp Of Earth
Just like the name says, this one is dedicated to Earth. Depending on the side of the lamp, you’ll also find other elements (air, fire, and water). The head of the lamp is made from a hollow tree, with the artist piercing it with more than 1700 holes. Not to forget that you can adjust its light and glow.
Lamp of Zvogla
This one can be adjusted, both in head and wings. It’s interesting that it’s devoted to mount Vogel in Bohinj, Slovenia.
Baby Dragon And Dragon Govic
Besides the wood, this one actually incorporated an animal bone to its structure. It’s designed as a small desk lamp with an adjustable head.
Behind the inspiration for this lamp lies a legend. It’s devoted to Dragon Govic, a creature thought to be living in the mount of Pršivec in Bohinj. The dragon sleeps there and is awaken by heavy ran. He then weaves its tale, creating Torrent of Govic that then flows down the mountain, right into the lake.
Swan Lamp is small and can be used as a desk lamp.
Lamp of Elves
The last lamp is dedicated to Elves and it’s constructed out of 2 pieces of driftwood, containing a LED lamp.
