Nikon launched the first waterproof and shockproof digital camera, the Nikon 1 AW1. This model has extremely hardened interchangeable lenses, thanks to which it can be used up to 15m underwater, stay undamaged after the fall from heights of up to 2m or unharmed after being in temperatures of -10 degrees Celsius. Being rubber-sealed, the Nikon 1 AW1 is also protected from sand, dust, or other impurities.

Apart from that, this camera has other great advantages compared to other camera models – it has an action control function, which allows quick switching between menu screens, and, if used in cold weather with gloves, prevents accidental operations with the help of control lock function.

The Nikon 1 AW1 is obviously designed for great adventurers – it has a built-in electronic compass, location data functions, virtual horizon display, altimeter and depth indicator.
If you are interested in shooting underwater, you can use the built in pop-up flash, or the “SB-N10 underwater speedlight” designed for Nikon 1 cameras, which increases the image quality even if the light is low.

The 14.2 megapixel CX-format CMOS sensor allows the Nikon 1 AW1 to shoot up to 60 frames per second, while autofocusing 15 frames per second.

The Nikon 1 AW1 has 10mm f/2.8 Nikkor lenses, a mono speaker and a stereo microphone. This model weighs 201 g, and has the dimensions of 114 x 72 x 37 mm. The screen size is 3.0 inches.

The AW1 supports MPEG-4 and H.264 video formats and 1920×1080 (60i, 30p), 1280×720 (60p, 30p), 640×240 (400 fps), 320×120 (1200 fps) resolutions. It comes in two colors – silver and black. watch video below
