NIKE LUNARTERRA ARKTOS BOOTS

Driven by the idea of designing and manufacturing a boot for all weather conditions which would also be lightweight, durable, comfortable and attractive, Nike came up with the LunarTerra Arktos Men’s Boot, an innovative combination of a boot and a sneaker that will keep your feet warm and dry regardless of the elements.

The Lunar Terra Arktos Boot has a premium fit, thick insulation and a Hyperfuse upper with Flywire lacing that make this resilient boot the number one choice for extreme weather conditions. The boot also has the so-called Lunarlon sockliner, with a foam core, which serves as a midsole and provides maximum comfort and support. The foam, which has been originally devised by Nike, is substantially lighter than the traditional synthetic Phylon, and it helps with even distribution of the force of impact on your foot.

The LunarTerra Arktos has a detachable insulated bootie which can be worn with or without the boot to keep your feet warm indoors. The boot’s outsole has a special traction pattern for easier climbing, while the textured rubber on the removable bootie increases traction.

Nate VanHook, a senior designer at NIKE who has developed the LunarTerra Arktos boot, says that the traditional Russian Matryoshka stacking doll and arctic bears (the word ‘arktos’ means bear in old Greek) where his inspiration for this boot. “The idea of modularity and pulling things apart to create a system that is stronger is perfect for creating a warmer product, much like a waterproof shell and insulated liner,” VanHook adds.
