Headphones today come in all shapes, colours, sizes and performances, but very few of them are made from wood like the Meze 88 Classic Headphones, designed and manufactured by a group of musicians, sound engineers and product designers from Romania. These are high-end headphones with exceptional sound quality and sound reproduction thanks to their natural wooden housing.
The Meze 88 Classsics Headphones are also very stylish and elegant with ear cups (8.8 cm in diameter) made from Ebony wood, in matte or glossy finish. The wood grain ranges from very light to quite dark which makes each headphone one-of-a-kind. The polycarbonate headband is comfortable because of its suspension padding. It is also lightweight and foldable with a detachable TPE cable. Of course, the Meze headphones are compatible with most contemporary gadgets from Blackberries, iPods and iPhones to MP3s, MP4s, DVDs and MDs.
As far as the technical properties go, the 88 Classics model, for instance, has a frequency response which varies from 12 Hz to 30 KHz, 116+/-3dB sensitivity, 36 Ohm impedance, and dedicated 50mm Neodymium drivers. This particular model weighs 290 grams and has a gold plated plug (dimensions: 3.5mm & 6.3mm). It also provides passive noise isolation.
To quote their designers “Meze headphones embody the classical values of clarity, balance and harmony.” [via]
