Life Hacks

The term life hacks has not been in the vernacular for all that long but at this point we all have a good idea of what it means. Indeed, a life hack can be anything from repurposing or reimagining common, everyday items to solve frustrating and vexing day-to-day problems to coming up with unique, new products to solve frustrating and vexing day-to-day problems. Let’s celebrate human ingenuity with a quick survey of some unique solutions to modern problems.

Universal Wrapping Paper

Universal Wrapping Paper

Fabio Milto’s wordless wrapping paper is an all occasions wrapping paper that has got you covered, no matter the situation. Tired of buying Christmas, Hanukah, birthday, and ‘other occasions’ wrapping paper? No problem! Milto’s wordless wrapping paper is printed with a word search puzzle with all conceivable occasions hidden within the letters, all you need to do is find and circle the correct one! Plus, your mastery of the small details in life, i.e. occasion appropriate wrapping paper, will call attention to what a successful adult you’ve become.

Quirky Citrus Spritzer

Quirky Citrus Spritzer

Better living through flavor: a spray nozzle that sucks the juice right out of lemons and limes to apply to salads, meat, vegetables, drinks, or whatever you want. This little wonder is something that’ll make the world one tiny, little bit better. Why? Because it cuts down on waste from plastic containers from store bought lemon and lime juice. And, juice that comes right from the fruit is obviously 100% fresh and not from concentrate. But, what really makes me excited is how many people will now have foods and flavors available to them that weren’t before. The anticipation and enjoyment of food, and life, will be just that  much greater thanks to this clever invention.

powerball-australia.com

australia balloon

Life hack? Definitely. This website lets Australian fans of US Powerball, the lottery with the biggest jackpot ever, a whopping $1.59 billion, play US Powerball from Australia. We can now add lotteries to the long list of things that the internet has fundamentally disrupted and democratized by giving people all over the world choices and variety that wasn’t available to them before. Think about that, rather than having to fly from Australia to the US to play the lottery game of your choice you can do it with a few clicks of a mouse.

Miniature Ballista Kit – Wooden Desktop Warfare Ballista

Miniature Ballista Kit

This miniature ballista is described as a ‘tabletop’ toy, and as such, it is a lot of fun. Educational, too, as it is a miniature replica of the famed Roman weapon of mass destruction.  But, we’re talking life hacks, so I’ll let you in on a secret: it works on desktops, too! That’s right, you can guard your precious work space from intruding co-workers, or, if you work from home, from encroaching family members. Maintain a distraction free environment with the (playful) threat of a small wooden projectile launched at high velocity, just don’t aim for the eyes!

Ben & Jerry’s Euphori-Lock

Ben & Jerry’s Euphori-Lock

‘Because there’s no “u” in “my pint”’ this nifty lock was invented to keep ice cream thieves and pilferers out of your sweet stash. Anyone who has ever lived with another human can appreciate going into the freezer to retrieve your favorite pint of ice cream only to discover it’s been diminished, or gasp, finished by someone else! It’s not hard to see where the inspiration for this gem came from and the Euphori lock is a great solution to a problem we’ve all had.
