IO HAWK SKATEBOARD
If you are looking for the ultimate skateboard, look no further than the IO Hawk. Featured at the prestigious International CES 2015 in Las Vegas, IO Hawk is an innovative combination of a skateboard and Segway and it is fun and weird at the same time.
This is also a self-balancing personal transporter which attracted a lot of attention at this year’s electronics show.
IO Hawk works like a Segway but with no handle bars. It is powered by batteries and it uses the pressure from your feet to move. Essentially, the device responds to the shift in your balance. “It’s all in the toes”, the manufacturer’s says. This personal mobility device is not that heavy – it weighs 22 pounds – and its top speed is 6 mph (9.65 km/h). IO Hawk’s maximum load is between 44 and 220 lbs, its climbing limit is 15 degrees and it requires a 4.4Amp Lithium-Ion 36V battery. You can get anything from 10 to 12 miles range from a single charge. The platform is 4.33 inches high while its dimensions are 24.65 x 9.65 x 9.84 inches.
This self-balancing skateboard / Segway mashup has another cool feature – it lights behind the base as a security measure. It also comes in three colours – white, red and black. Learning how to use it is pretty easy. You need not worry whether you will get your balance right. The only thing you need to get over is the fear from toppling over. We estimate that it will take you up to ten minutes to get it right and once you do, the fun can start. watch video below
