Austrian firm Gogl Architekten designed this wonderful winter retreat called Hotel Wiesergut in Hinterglemm, Austria. The idea was not to create something completely new, but rather to adapt the existing facilities that represented tradition and improve it.
The home of Hotel Wiesergut is Hinterglemm, which is just about 65 miles away from the city of Salzburg, but still secluded enough to present a real retreat for anyone in need of a serene holiday. The setting of the hotel is also amazing. It is surrounded by mountains, sitting right next to the ski slopes.
The huge house in the middle that overlooks the modern structures around it is actually the home for the 17 manor suites available. The smaller buildings around it are seven exclusive garden suits that radiate with luxury including large, floor to ceiling windows. These suits are spacious and bathed in daylight. The materials used are also mostly natural, but also highly contrasting, including stone, granite, wood, concrete and glass.
Many of the furniture items were independently designed and specially made in order to accommodate the needs of the hotel, making them fully functional and allowing a high level of attention to detail. This made every of the interior facilities harmonic and stylish, without any sacrifices to functionality.
The lighting at night exudes warmth and serenity, carefully capturing attention of every distant onlooker and transferring the tranquil atmosphere.
The food available is mainly of local character, including herbs grown in the outdoor garden, but the chefs playfully mix Austrian traditional dishes and experimental cuisine. In Wiesergut’s kitchen, everyone is bound to find something they like to eat.
