If you’re a camping enthusiast and lover of outdoorsy lifestyle but always seem to be missing those small home conveniences on your outs and abouts, you’ll be glad to hear that a solution to all your campsite accessory woes has finally been found: meet the Freescape Gear Series, a stylish take on the bare camping necessities which aim to make an adventure into the wild as comfy and simple as an evening behind your kitchen counter.

Recently released by well-known gear manufacturer Gerber, the Freescape Series brings together several crafty items that might just come in handy when braving the big outdoors. The first accessory in Gerber’s latest gear series is the Gerber Freescape Camp Kitchen Knife, modeled after the Santoku chef’s knife, which has a flat belly and adjusted sheepsfoot point ideal for food preparation on the go. A combination of a full-tank build for maximum comfort, neat straight edge for utmost cutting precision and rubber handle with a lanyard hole and bright-green accents for easy detection in the dark, the 9.1 inches long Camp Kitchen Knife has a 3.8-inch 7Cr17MoV steel blade enveloped in a classy sheath with belt loop and it’s also 100% dishwasher safe.

There’s one more knife in the Gerber Freescape Series, the Gerber Freescape Folding Sheath Knife, which boasts a slightly shorter 3.5-inch 7Cr17MoV steel edge, partially serrated for convenient sawing at times when you might need to cut a rope, belt, lace tangles or other dense materials. The 8.4 inches long Folding Sheath Knife is fitted with a rubberized grip with a lanyard hole and bright green points, and it comes packed inside a belt-loop neoprene and nylon sheath. When not in use, it can be folded up for maximum safety.

In addition to the two handy Gerber knives, the latest Freescape Series also includes the Gerber Freescape Hatchet with a rough and strong forged steel axe head and hardened blade low-friction surface coating for efficient chopping and hammering endeavors around the campsite. Marked by bright green accents, the 17.3 inches long Freescape Hatchet sports a lightweight yet durable composite glass-filled nylon handle outfitted with soft-touch over-mold and it also comes with an easy-to-remove sheath (packable inside the handle when the hatchet’s in use) for your best comfort and protection.

On top of the two stylish knives and the hatchet, the Freescape Series also includes two lanterns, the Gerber Freescape Large and Small Lanterns, both of which feature bottom rubber grips to prevent accidental slips on smooth surfaces, IPX4 water resistance for sufficient light even in rainy nights, bright green accents for easy identification in the dark and the innovative Gerber Freetouch Technology for easy activation and deactivation by a simple tap of the finger. Furthermore, the original Freetouch Technology lets you adjust the brightness of the output by holding the Freetouch ring to set the light to the level which suits you most. The Freescape Large Lantern sports a LED battery indicator and runs on four D batteries, outputting the amazing 300 lumens of bright light (good for 2 hours of use on max level or 25 hours on the low 15-lumen output), while the Small Lantern emits 80 lumens of light from the frosted lens on the side and bottom of the lantern and packs three AA batteries (you get 2 hours of light on the 80 lumen output and up to 25 hours on dim 5-lumen light). The Gerber Large Lantern measures 9.3 inches in height and 5 inches in diameter, while the Small Lantern boasts the ABS plastic body with TPE over-molds, sizing 95.9 inches in height by 3.2 inches in diameter. Both lanterns come with a spring-loaded handle clip so you can hang them easily from a branch, nail or any other hook, and the Small Lantern can also serve as a convenient table lamp or overhead reading light.

But that’s not all – last but not the least, there’s also the Gerber Freescape Flashlight, an ultra-portable, all-weather, IPX7 water-resistant light source that can stand immersion in water to the depth of one meter for up to half an hour. Powered by two AA batteries, the 9.1 inches long Freescape Flashlight has three different modes to live up to your highest camping requirements. Thanks to the Gerber flashlight CREE XPG LED, you can use the bright 200-lumen white light (will last up to 1 hour) or the low, 50 lumen white output (good for about 8 hours of use) and there’s also the Osram RED LED with 40 lumens of red light for optimum night vision. Featuring a unique anti-roll shape, sturdy durable design and bright green accents for easy visual ID at night, Gerber Freescape Flashlight operates by means of a switch found on the tail cap just like any other tactical flashlight. The large lanyard loop found at the rear makes sure your light doesn’t switch on accidentally and leaks juice when not needed, and you can also use it to attach the Gerber Flashlight to a carabineer or strap for easy transport.
