FINNISH FLOATING SAUNA

see link

Trust the Finnish to go one step further from a regular sauna and invent a floating one! A group of friends from the Finish town of Joensuu has built a sauna raft (or Saunalutta in Finnish), decked out for complete and utter enjoyment. There are hammocks, multi-level decks, a changing area, a storage room, a launchpad perfect for jumps into the lake and trampolining, a swim pad, and, of course, a proper Finish sauna where temperatures reach up to 194°F or 90°C. Of course, the best way to enjoy the sauna is to jump straight into the icy lake when the heat becomes too much to bear.

There is also a barbecue / dining area with picnic tables and a space for parties. The sauna raft is fully functional and properly buoyant. It is made from recycled materials like repurposed plastic barrels. The raft is powered by a compact outboard engine. Despite its somewhat crude appearance, the sauna raft has been designed with the help of CAD 3D modeling. A lot of thought went into it and the end result is a vessel that is perfect for people who don’t have wads of cash to rent a powerboat or a small yacht, but still want to enjoy their summer to the fullest.

If you happen to find yourself in the vicinity of Joensuu in summer, you can hire the floating sauna for a few days through the Saunalutta Facebook page. Just don’t forget one thing – relaxation and pleasure is mandatory here. Staying at the raft will satisfy all of your senses and your body will thank you for being rejuvenated with intense heat in the sauna.
