The DJI Osmo is a multifunctional camera stabilizer made by DJI, the guys that are behind the Phantom drone and the Ronin (a professional camera stabilizer used extensively in the movie industry). They are advertising it as the “ultimate selfie stick” but it can be used for so much more.
The Osmo comes in the form of a 6.4 inch handle with a camera on top. The controls are adequately positioned so the device can be used with one hand. The Osmo stabilizes the camera with a three axis gimbal ensuring a crisp and clear picture when on the move. You orient the camera with a trigger on the handle that regulates its position. It can be set to look in front of you while adjusting to the angle at which you are carrying it or the camera can be turned towards you for those impromptu selfies.
The camera that comes with the Osmo is a 12 megapixel, 4K, 94 degree field of view, Zenmuse X3 lens that has an integrated microphone for basic audio recording. If you’re feeling more professional, there’s also a jack for an external mic. The Osmo connects with your mobile device via a Wi-Fi signal up to a distance of 82 feet and you can easily control it with a dedicated app. With the app, you can set the shutter speed, FPS (24, 30, 60 and 120 supported), picture quality and much more. The battery life of the DJI Osmo is approximately 60 minutes on a fresh charge.
So if you need the ultimate selfie stick, or want to get creative with your self-made videos, you should definitely check out the DJI Osmo camera stabilizer. [via]
