Crocobiner is a compact, every day, multi tool in the form of a carabiner that can be carried anywhere easily in your pocket or attached to your backpack. This simple design that resembles a crocodile (hence the name) is made from a single piece of metal which makes it durable and extremely effective. The Crocobiner can be used as a: key holder, box opener, pry bar, bottle opener, multi-spoke bicycle wrench, screwdriver (flat and Philips), hex bit holder and a wrench.
The Crocobiner is compatible with 13G/14G/15G and Shimano 4.3mm wheel sets. There are six wrench sizes on the multi tool available in SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) or the metric system:
- SAE: 3/8″, 11/32″, 5/16″, 9/32″, 1/4″ and 4/16″
- Metric: #10, #9, #8, #7, #6 and #5
Crocobiner is water-jet cut from 5 mm metal sheets. You can also choose the type of metal and finish of the tool. Currently, the manufacturer uses: aerospace titanium (grade 5), low carbon steel, stainless steel, copper and “mokume gane” (a distinctive mixed metal laminate which has intricate layered patterns). The available finishes are: sandblasted, brushed and polished.
The project is currently funded on Kickstarter and has reached its goal. The product will be available for shipping in December 2015. Every tenth backer gets a free Crocobiner t-shirt in camouflage print. If you need a cool, portable, sturdy multi tool for everyday use, you should definitely check the Crocobiner out.
