Caterpillar S60 Smartphone

$599

Caterpillar (CAT) is a well-known company that produces durable and high-quality construction equipment, but lately, they’re also focused on gadgets, such as smartphones. Caterpillar S60 Smartphone is the newest phone from that company that has a 3,800 mAh battery and a die cast steel frame inside which makes it durable and almost indestructible. It has the Mil-Spec 810G case that can withstand drops from a height of 1.8 meters and is waterproof up to 5 meters.

This smartphone, that will be presented at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this year, has a 4.7-inch touchscreen that can be used even when you’re wearing working gloves or when your fingers are wet. It’s equipped with a Snapdragon 617 octa-core processor, 32GB of storage space and 3GB of RAM.

Given the fact that this phone will be used on construction sites most of the time, the most important thing is its durability and strength. Not only can this smartphone be submerged up to 5 meters in the water, it can also stay down there for one whole hour. This will allow people to use the underwater camera and record things they never could record with regular smartphones. Caterpillar S60 Smartphone features one 13MP main camera with dual flash and a 5MP  camera in the front.

The most important and definitely the most impressive thing about this smartphone is the first ever integrated FLIR thermal camera. This feature will allow users to detect heat loss around windows or doors, to spot moisture and missing insulation. It will also help them identify over-heating electrical appliances and circuitry and to see in complete darkness.

This phone also supports GPS, assisted-GPS, Glonass, the Chinese Beidou satellite network, Bluetooth, NFC, an FM radio, barometer and altimeter sensors. There is no exact information on when will Caterpillar S60 Smartphone officially hit the market, but there is a lot of speculation that it may arrive somewhere in June this year. The estimated price for this durable gadget is $599.
