People say to get the taste of real Italy you have to head south. Why not go to the dramatic and beautiful Amalfi coastline in Southern Italy, and, more specifically, a small high-end hotel called Casa Angelina?
The first thing you notice when you get to Casa Angelina is the staggering beauty of the nature here. The hotel itself is built into a volcanic cliff overlooking the sea, so you can imagine the view when you open up the curtains of your hotel room window in the morning. The influential travel magazine Condė Nast Traveler has called Casa Angelina “The Delano of the Amalfi Coast”. In case you haven’t heard of The Delano Hotel in Miami Beach, it is one of architecturally most stunning buildings in America, built in Art Deco style, and also celebrated as one of the most elegant hotels in Southern United States.
Why is Casa Angelina so popular with tourists? First, let’s talk about the décor. All of the hotel’s 43 rooms are decorated in crisp all-white style, contrasted by hardwood floors, and unusual Murano glass sculptures. People who have stayed at Casa Angelina recommend one of the four Eaudesea Experience suites located in remodeled fishermen’s cottages above the La Gavitella beach.
The hotel also has a wonderful rooftop restaurant called ‘Un Piano nel Cielo’ (‘A Piano in Heaven’) which serves, among other things, outstanding lamb chops, braised gilthead bream with wild fennel and star anise, pancakes with wildberry sauce, and citrus-fruit risotto (the area is known for its lemons).
Although Casa Angelina doesn’t have a spa as such, there is a masseuse. You can book a relaxing massage between 11 am and 7 pm. If you don’t want to miss out on your Pilates or yoga classes, the hotel has a personal trainer at hand. There are also BodyBalance and AquaGym fitness classes to try.
The famous island of Capri is just a boat-trip away, so why not have the hotel’s concierge arrange a romantic outing for you.
