Bell was founded back in 1954 as a high-end helmet manufacturer and since then has produced top quality head-gear for all kinds of sports. One of their contributions to motorcycle safety was the first fully enclosed helmet they named Star.
Fast forward some fifty years, and Bell has returned to this timeless design, with all the state-of-the-art safety features this time around. This is the Bell Bullitt helmet, and it’s the closest you’ll get to having a vintage helmet without actually buying it.
While it has the style and appeal of vintage bike gear, the Bullitt is definitely built like a modern bike helmet. The shell is built from lightweight carbon fiber composites with a multi-density EPS liner and meets all DOT regulations. The helmet also has circular air intake vents that keep your head cool on those hot summer days. The Bullitt has a chin vent that is operable from the inside of the helmet. The other four vents are positioned along the brow and are connected to the Venturi vent at the back of the helmet, providing ample air flow. You can also choose between a flat or bubbled face shield that is available in different colors. The face shield can be easily removed if you’re going for that true retro, dirt-goggles look. The interior lining is made from full grain leather with suede cheek pads and cutout pockets for speakers.
With the Bullitt you get 21 century protection and comfort in a helmet that goes perfectly with a chopped down naked bike or a cafe racer. You don’t have to sacrifice style for safety with the Bell Bullit helmet and are free to find your inner Steve Mcqueen or maybe even James Dean (just be careful not to go to far).
