Polk Audio is a company that is filled with top sound enthusiasts and all of their products are products of dedication and love for top notch audio products. The Woodbourne speaker is one of those products and it is one of the contestants for the title o the best wireless audio speaker available. Let’s have a look at it.
When talking about the design, we need to say that it certainly draws attention with its stylish retro design. With the size of 24in x 7in x 6.88in it was sure to take up some space, so the design was important. The top is covered with elegant mahogany wood finish that is both stylish and minimalistic. The curved front adds to the elegance. Even though it is a wireless speaker, we have to say that with this size and weight of 17.5 pounds it is meant to be stationary. The Woodbourne is not based on portability, but rather on design, quality and functionality.
The back is also minimalistic and simply functional, featuring a small panel that includes a minijack, optical input, USB and Ethernet ports.
Inside you will find two 5.25-inch drivers and two 1-inch tweeters. These are paired up with a 4-channel amplifier with the power of 180W.
There are six connectivity options in total – Airplay, Bluetooth with Apt-X codec supported, USB, Optical, Stereo 3.5mm, Ethernet. The Woodbourne is equipped with DSP technology with Dolby Digital processing and Full Complement Bass technology, as well as Polk’s patented Dynamic Balance technology that eliminates resonances that result in distortion.
Coming at $600 on Amazon the Woodbourne is definitely in classy company, so if you are satisfied with the design, the functionality and sound should be to your liking as well, especially if we take its size into consideration.
