VW California Camper Van

For those who love long road trips, camper vans have always been a good option.  It provides much-needed comfort and safety throughout all those long journeys, so picking the right “house on wheels” can be a tough task. The California Camper Van by Volkswagen comes in 2 options. The “Beach” model that has a 102 bhp turbo direct-injection diesel engine and the “Ocean” model that is packed with a two-liter, 204 bhp turbocharged stratified injection petrol engine.

This van has a simply designed modern exterior with not too many unnecessary details. That makes sense because when it comes to camper vans, what counts the most is what you can find inside. The interior offers more or less what you would expect from a “house on wheels”. Regarding the beds, there is plenty room for four people to sleep comfortably. This van also features a roof bed.

This van features a Driver Alert System that is able to recognize unusual steering and advise the driver to pull over and rest.

The interior is very spacious and comfortable. There is enough room for 4 persons to sleep comfortably.

The Ocean model has an electrohydraulic pop-up roof and LED lighting located in the roof and tailgate. LED lights can be dimmed for a more pleasant atmosphere. The California Camper Van also features a kitchen that’s equipped with a twin-burner stove, 42-liter (11 gallons) fridge and a stainless steel sink. Besides these essentials, the van also has ashtrays and towel holders.

Regarding safety, the VW features a Driver Alert System that is able to recognize unusual steering that may indicate that the driver is sleepy or that something is wrong with the driver’s health. If this happens, the alert system will advise the driver to pull over as soon as possible and take a break. This vehicle also has a Brake Assist system which will apply full braking pressure in case of emergency. And if these emergencies do happen, Automatic Post-Collision Braking will activate in order to prevent further accidents.

People from Volkswagen haven’t yet released any information regarding the price, so interested customers will have to wait just a little bit longer in order to purchase this California camper van. (via)
