OAKLEY EYESHADE HERITAGE SUNGLASSES

$200

There’s no denying it – the retro look is back in fashion, and it seems it’s going to stay around for a while, whether you like it or not. So if you can’t beat ‘em, you’d better join ‘em, right? Well, there’s an original way to stay trendy even if you don’t want to completely give in to the vintage craze: simply keep it on the minimum and get yourself a nice accessory to match your personal style. For example, you may buy a vintage leather belt, classic-looking wristwatch or a fine-looking pair of retro sunglasses from the latest Heritage™ Collection by Oakley, the famous California-based manufacturer of sports performance equipment and lifestyle accessories. To mark the 30th anniversary of their signature performance eyewear, Oakley decided to reissue a limited edition of retro sports shades, including Razor Blades™, Frogskins® and Eyeshades™, all with commemorative highlights and collective extras for professional athletes and sports enthusiasts who would like to pay homage to the sportswear fashion history.

Back in 1980s, Oakley founder Jim Jannard came up with the radical motorcross goggle design featuring a cylindrical-shaped lens, which he produced using a material called Unobtainium. His early goggle experiments resulted in the first genuine performance eyewear, a combination of the Plutonite single lens and Unobtainium technology. The innovative eyewear saw its world premiere with the American cyclist Greg LeMond and his astonishing second-place finish at Tour de France in 1985 (back in those days, cyclists preferred not to wear eye protection when racing). Since then, Oakley has come a long way – Eyeshades became a must for a majority of bike riders and many other athletes and sports fans, and other shade designs such as Razor Blades and Frogskins appeared soon thereon, drawing on the original Eyeshade model.
