Google Home | A Voice-Activated Speaker And Personal Assistant

$TBA

We may finally have a real competition for the Amazon Echo. We’re talking about Google Home, a voice-activated speaker device that will make your life easier. You can talk to it, ask questions and get all the info you need to know. Quite handy, right?

Google Home has far-field microphones so you can even speak across the room and it will be able to understand you. To use it, you’ll need to plug it in (it’s not portable). Of course, you can use it to listen to music, it is a speaker after all, isn’t it? It features high excursion speaker for HiFi sound and connects to Google Play Music, Spotify, YouTube Music, Pandora, and TuneIn.

It has various features- from a planner, an alarm, and calculator, all the way to providing you with all sorts of info and news.

To start a conversation, all you need to say is “Ok Google”. You can ask a variety of questions, for example about the weather, traffic, sports, news… It can also be used as a calculator, translator, dictionary, alarm, and timer, you name it. With a clean touch surface, controlling it is easy. As for privacy, there’s the mic mute button right behind it. Make sure to check out the video below.

You can connect it to other smart devices. Also, it has a multi-room capacity so you can group them together and listen to the same music in all the rooms.

Another cool feature is that you can connect it to other smart devices like Chromecast, Nest and Philips Hue in order to voice control them. With Google Home having a modular design, there’s the option of customizing your own speaker. Just change the bottom part to one of seven colors you like the best. It will come out later this year. Price is still to be confirmed.
