AUDI S1 QUATTRO

$TBA

Audi’s S range marks a performance focused group of vehicles from the German manufacturer, and the smallest members of the family – the Audi S1 and the S1 Sportback – are finally out for everyone to see.

Well, not really out, since it will officially debut at the Geneva Motor Show at the beginning of March, but some basic information is out and the pictures to drool over.

The S1 Sportback is simply an S1 with five doors, but it is basically the same car. They will both have AWD setup with 2.0l turbocharged engine that will produce about 230hp and 370Nm of torque which should be enough to propel even a much larger vehicles, but something of this size is sure to be a rocket, reaching 100km/h in 5.8 seconds for the S1 and 0.1 seconds slower for the S1 Sportback and both limited to the top speed of 248km/h. The transmission will offer options of a six-speed manual and dual clutch automatic.

Lightweight body provided excellent fuel consumption figures. Estimated consumption will be around 7l/100km.

Design-wise, the new S1 is great. The front is dominated by a large grille in whose upper part you can find the Audi sign, but the most prominent feature at the front are probably the aggressive ‘xenon plus’ headlights. With the addition of huge ports in the front bumpers add a lot to the aggressiveness. The roof spoiler that can be seen in some of the pictures is optional and it comes with the Quattro exterior styling package.

On the inside the S1 is small, but cozy and packed with features. The middle holds the 6.5-inch color screen, while the dashboard instruments are familiar dark gray. Milano leather seats are standard while Fine Nappa leather ones are available as an option as is the steering wheel with flattened bottom.

The new S1 in both variants is sure to have a large following and act as a serious competition for the likes of MINI Cooper JCW. watch video below [via]
